The Community Hub is a close collaboration of three charities: South Brent & District Caring with the Old School Community Centre and Sustainable South Brent (SSB). We have been generously funded by South Brent Community Energy Society, to provide the space as a Warm Room over the winter periods in 2023 & 2024 and increase our services to the community.
The Hub is open with a volunteer present or on-call Mon-Fri 9.30am-12.30pm. We aim to offer a welcoming space for anyone, to chat, play a game, get support or advice, or help to find out who they need to speak to. You are welcome to come and work or charge devices here. The SSB Hub is co-located, and they run a drop-in three times a week, with a huge amount of information and resources available to anyone interested. Also in the room is an offshoot collection & drop-off for the Totnes Share Shed, and Sustainable South Brent runs a series of sustainability events in The Community Hub. Click HERE for more details.
Co-Op match funding Crowdfunder for the Warm Room. The Co-Op generously match funded donations to our Warm Room project for 2022/23.
South Brent Community Energy Society http://www.sbces.org.uk/ has supported us with funding for both 2022, 2023 and enough monies for us to be open until March 2024!
We have fitted a small kitchen area with a fridge, freezer, small electric cooker, and kettle and offer free food and hot drinks (subject to availability), free Wi-Fi, mobile and device charging. There are also computers for public internet access elsewhere in the Old School Centre.
We aim to offer relevant signposting and information, a warm space to work and access online support and basic general IT support for your own devices. The Old School Centre has toilets, including one accessible and access to parking (2 disabled spaces). The Warm Space is child friendly and has a selection of games, jigsaws, books and toys.
